Korea Nuclear Power Robotics Co., Ltd. (KNR) has successfully developed the world’s first miniature in-bore EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) robot, which can be inserted into 16mm pipes, marking a breakthrough in nuclear maintenance technology.
KNR also played a key role as a partner in the Shin-Kori Unit 4 foreign material removal project, which was led by Doosan. Through this collaboration, KNR successfully delivered and operated its miniature EDM in-bore system, further proving its technological expertise in nuclear power plant maintenance.
Additionally, KNR has embarked on the development of next-generation nuclear power maintenance technologies to enhance safety and operational efficiency. These include:
- EDM boat sampling systems for precise material analysis
- In-bore laser cutting and welding robots for efficient pipe maintenance
- Tube plugging robots for sealing compromised heat exchanger tubes
- Fire suppression capsule systems for rapid and effective nuclear fire response
Through continuous innovation, KNR aims to lead the nuclear maintenance industry and expand its advanced solutions globally.
